It’s no secret that the weather in Canada is so different from Middle Eastern Countries, like Egypt, Jordan, Dubai, Turkey, etc. Nevertheless, the weather might be the easiest thing to pack for. There are several other aspects you have to consider in order to nail your packing list to your Middle Eastern trip. We give you the basic packing list to get you started…

Umbrella

Generally speaking, the weather in the Middle East is sunny in both, the summer and winter; of  course,  it tends to be sunnier in the hot season than what you’re used to in Calgary, while in winter, there is an average frequency of rainfall. That’s why we recommend bringing an umbrella with you when packing to the middle east, regardless of the season.

Scarf

Unlike what you might think, not all women in the Middle East wear scarves and abayas; so don’t worry you won’t be standing out too much without a scarf. However, packing a scarf should definitely be on your list because there are several religious sites you’ll be visiting, and usually, such holistic destinations require a conservative cover-up.

Long Sleeves

Packing long sleeves is very convenient for both, the summer and winter seasons in the Middle East; yes the weather is generally warmer than that of Calgary’s, and it could be tough to pull off long sleeves especially during the hot summer. Yet, long sleeves will serve as a protection for your skin and will reduce the possibility of you getting sunburned or having any rashes due to the sharp sun rays and high humidity.

Dark Shaded Colors

Most cities in the Middle East, like Cairo for instance, are way more crowded than what you’re used to in Calgary, and with crowded streets and traffic comes pollution. So when packing, it’s better to choose darker shades as they last longer and don’t show stains like brighter colors.

Loose Fit Cottons

Humidity is definitely higher in the Middle East than Calgary; especially in Summer. Packing loose fit cottons will make you avoid awkward situations of getting your clothes stuck to your body.

Comfy Sneakers

Winter or Summer, a pair of comfy sneakers is what you should pack when traveling to the Middle East. Middle Eastern countries have bumpy streets, and many of the ancient sites you’ll be visiting have a sandy rocky ground. That’s why we recommend you go with comfy sneakers when packing to make touring and walking easier for you.

Sun-block

A sun block cream is your best friend during your trip to the Middle East. During winter and summer, and even if the weather is cloudy; don’t go out without wearing your sunscreen.

Surgical Mask if you’re Asthmatic

With several factors put together, like humidity, crowdedness, too many car exhausts, and sandy dusty sites, the atmosphere in the Middle East might be a bit tricky for those who are Asthmatic. So pack a  surgical mask and keep yourself protected.
